the Men's "Center of Hope" Campus
Teen
Challenge started a residential program for men on 27th Street in
1983. Several years latter this program was moved to 44th and North
Avenue on the north side of Milwaukee. The North Avenue facility
housed up to 12 men and was opened by Rev. Gene Berres and Rev.
Bob McDonald.
In 1990 the men’s program was in desperate need of additional
bed space. With almost no resources a two acre campus with a 30
bed dorm was purchased at 92nd and Appleton Avenue. This new property
was purchased for just under one half of a million dollars.
Today the Teen Challenge Center of Hope Campus is one of the best
Teen Challenge facilities in America. The property consists of the
Don Wilkerson Men’s Dorm, The White House Administrative Building,
an Eight Unit Staff Housing Building, and a full service Vehicle
Donation facility.
It
is a very nice facility located in the heart of our city. The Lord
in his mercy and love has made this place possible for those who
enter it’s doors each day. Blessed be his name!
Consider coming by for a visit. Each and every day the men of Teen
Challenge are busy moving forward with their lives at this “Center
of Hope” Campus!
